Divorce Mediation & Document Preparation Services:
Guiding Couples through the Divorce Process
Mediation
Mediation is an informal and confidential process of assisted problem solving and negotiation. The mediation model used at Peaceful Beach is designed to make the divorce transition easier, more efficient, and less traumatic and expensive. Typically, attorneys are not included as a part of the process; however, you are encouraged to consult with an attorney, accountant, financial advisor and/or other professional prior to signing your agreement and other documents in order to discuss the legal, tax, and financial ramifications of your decisions.
Document Preparation
In addition to mediating your divorce, Brooke will prepare your Marital Settlement Agreement and (if there are minor children) Parenting Plan and other documentation needed for you to obtain an uncontested divorce.
Process
Depending on the issues and the personalities involved, the divorce process typically involves two or three meetings of about two hours, plus a short signature session. The length of time between meetings varies and is determined by your divorce readiness, schedules and preferred pace. Often, the process will be combined with some individual telephone or email consultation. After your documents are signed, Brooke will file them with the court and assist you in setting your final hearing with the judge.
Costs & Fees
Most divorces at Peaceful Beach cost $2,950 (for divorces with minor children) or $2,250 (for divorces without minor children) or less for mediation and document drafting/divorce facilitation services. This does not include the $409 dissolution of marriage filing fee you will pay directly to the Brevard County Clerk of Court. Costs and fees are often shared equally by, or according to the income of, the parties.
